How does System Status optimize my battery life and is there anything like "trickle charge" offered by other apps?

Other apps are very "good" at marketing and at telling you how essential they are for improving your device’s battery life. The truth is:

No app can influence the charging process, which is fully under iOS control. The only thing apps can do is report:

1. Charge percentage (reported by iOS in 5% increments only)
2. Battery state (unknown, unplugged, charging, full)

It’s assumed that when an app reports 100% but the battery state is still "charging", iOS is performing trickle charging. The reason System Status does not report this as "trickle charge" is that nobody really knows what iOS does, so it is safer to report just the information iOS provides.
